"The Two Trees"
Life in the midst of Good & Evil
"...but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat" (Genesis 2:17)
With all the trees in the Garden, why were the Tree of Life and the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, the only two trees God singled out by name?
The Tree of Life was given to provide fruit of eternal life. The Tree of the Knowledge was forbidden as it led only to death. In The Two Trees, Rabbi Ralph Messer compares Mount Moriah and the Tree of Life in the center of the Garden, to the Tree of Knowledge and the Mount of Olives, surrounded by graves.
The Tree of Knowledge is also likened to God's people, scattered across the earth, and outside of Torah. See how God is doing a new work in His people today, reviving and ingathering, feeding us again from the Tree of Life. You will understand God's sovereign plan, His promise to write the Torah on your heart and mind, and His desire for you to choose Life in the midst of Good and Evil.
